What Makes a Good Short Story?
A great short story usually has:
- A Hook (Beginning) – Grabs the reader’s attention straight away. It introduces the main character, the setting, and a hint of the problem or goal.
- Character Development – Helps us understand who the main character is, their personality, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Backstory – Gives some history that explains why the character is on this journey or facing this challenge.
- Rising Action – The events that build tension and lead toward the main event or climax.
- Climax – The most exciting or important moment where the main challenge is faced.
- Resolution (Ending) – Shows what happens after the climax and how the character has changed.
- Consistent Tone – Keeps the overall feeling (e.g., tense, adventurous, hopeful) the same throughout the story.
