The Beatleaf tree and the Redleaf tree look almost the same. The major difference between them is how they react to different types of sunlight. Beatleaf trees need direct sunlight to grow well, but they will survive in shade, though they won’t grow as fast. Redleaf trees only grow well in shaded areas, and direct sunlight causes their leaves to turn brown. |
Sophie and Max want to figure out if a tree they found is a Beatleaf or a Redleaf.
Sophie: “If we keep the tree in shaded light, we still won’t know for sure if it’s a Beatleaf or a Redleaf.”
Max: “The only way to know for certain is to place it in direct sunlight and see what happens.”
