There are plans to form a volunteer army of retired people to go into hospital wards and classrooms every day to help out. This is a ridiculous idea because most retired people have worked hard throughout their lives and wish to enjoy their remaining active years. People in this group who wish to do this kind of work are already often involved in their communities, as members of clubs, societies and charities so the scheme should be dropped immediately.
