Public schools should charge a fee to parents whose children missed a lot of school. This ‘free’ public service, which is funded by taxpayers, is being wasted due to prolonged absenteeism. If a financial penalty is given out, it may reduce the number of students choosing to stay home because “they didn’t feel like it”.
