In aviation terminology, a rejected take-off (RTO) is a decision to abort the take-off of an airplane for safety reasons. RTO’s are usually due to technical failures, such as an engine failure, fire, incorrect configuration, aircraft controllability or environmental conditions such as windshear. |
Mr Gail is a flight instructor who has just had to perform an RTO whilst two students were in the cockpit.
Student 1: “Mr Gail must have performed the RTO due to a problem with the aircraft.”
Student 2: “Before performing an RTO, Mr Gail determined the take-off conditions for the plane were unsafe.”
